    Syria..Where are we heading

Had an interesting discussion with Zaid and Leen the other day about the situation in Syria in terms and the “development Status” in the country.

It seems that I am quite pessimistic (or they are over optimistic); the question was very simple: how long would take for the development process in Syria to yield results; how successful has it been in the last 5 years..? could they have done more or done it better in the last 5 years….? I am totally convinced (probably a bit over enthusiastic as well) that what happened in the last years is way less than what could have been done….Leen and her development institute flatmate were saying that 5 years are way too short for any results as the devolvement process is one that take years and years of work.

I believe the discussion had the Syrian identity of both parties going to the extremes; but one thing for sure: If I had the vision Z & L have about Syria; I would definitely live as a happier person.
